Identifying a Callaway Turbo car
Is there anything special that identifies a Callaway turbo car besides just popping the hood and seeing the parts? What is a decent Callaway worth these days? I think a friend of mine has stumbled on one with a blown motor at a very reasonable price. Problem is my friend wants to do a V8 swap so all he really wants is the rolling chassis so I was going to save the entire motor for my car but I was wondering if any modifications were made to the body that would make it special and worth keeping the two together.

Maybe - where is the car?
I have a ton of information on this but it's on my computer at home; I'll try and post it tonight. There really wasn't much done to the body - it was virtually all drivetrain. Some minor modification to the lower air dam is required for the intercooler - IIRC that was it.
I'd be interested in those parts. . . Or perhaps the car itself.

Porsche-O-phile, any light you can shed on these cars would be greatly appreciated. I tried doing searches here, pelican, and on google and came up with minimal information. The car is in PA so it's kind of a hike for you but if my friend passes on it I'll be sure to pass along the sellers information to you. If my friend does buy this car I've already got dibs on the entire motor and related parts so most likely won't be parting with anything that has to do with the Callaway conversion.

Still sweet and I'd love to help you out in any way I can. FWIW I do know of the locations of two of the other Callaway 944s so I'm not that worried; maybe at some point I'll start collecting them all
I'll send you a big pile of stuff tonight - please get it if he doesn't!

If you put a callaway V8 in the car it would still be a callaway 944 and the purists wont have anything to whine about. i had some callaway parts on my LT1 motor.
check out their site. i guess it would be a callaway stage II 944.

Yep, that's some of 'em - good information there.
FWIW there were actually four conversions done by Callaway for the 928. One of them is owned by someone here on Rennlist, but I'll say no more.
That'd be bad-*** - far more so than any Chevy V8 turbo.

So after seeing this why wouldn't Campeck wanna do something similar to this to their early N/A ? Yes manufacturing would cost a pretty penny or two but well worth the results given suspension upgrades were on the list of to-do's in the first place?

I'd just find something else to whine about. Like how wide all those pics are in some posts that stretch out the text so you have to scroll back and forth to read it.
