Default Waterpump bearings

I have a failed bearing like sound coming from the front left side of my 87 NA 944. I used a stethescope and it sounds like its coming from the waterpump. I am also leaking some coolant right behind the belt guards. Water pump is still operational. So, does the water pump have bearings, and if they do can they fail? Or, could it be a roller?

Yes the bearings for the waterpump can fail, makes that "grinding" sometimes.

Even if it is the roller, you need a new/rebuilt pump
