Test drove an '05 Acura RSX-S (not really off topic)
I was curious, since I owned an Integra in '87, and everyone says what a "formula" motor the RSX-S has.
Anyway, I drive up to the dealer, and the salesman is asking ME more questions about my S2 than I am about the RSX!
"Wow, that's a nice Porsche...expensive, huh?"
I say "the maintenance...yeah, very!"
Anyway, I drove the car, and still can't belive what a loud, MESS that thing was!! It sounded like I was in the movie "Fast and the Furious". Totally rice sounding, and at 4k RPM, I thought the engine was going to explode. When I read that you need to rev the car to around 6-7k to get the full effect...I laughed to myself! The clutch is a fly by wire type clutch. Felt like I was playing a video game driving that thing! The bolsters on the seats were about 4 inches too far apart...leading to me sliding around at every turn.
When I got back into my 944, I realized the difference between a German sports classic vs. a Honda!
Needless to say, I wont be buying an RSX-S..EVER!

One of my in laws has one of the 05 WRX STI Cars with the Brembos, huge water injection intercoolers etc, etc. Very fast and awsone handling.... Same thing. VERY WIDE SEATS. They dont hold you in very well.

The Acura doesn't have anything near Brembo brakes! The calipers looked like cast junk from an Accord! When I got back to my 944, and saw the nice Brembo calipers and brass lines...it made me smile!
Cars should come with a Fat Bastid option to have the seats wider. Otherwise, narrow and secure should be the norm in a sporty car!

just to add its not a fair comparison... really, the RSX-S new is what, 25k? your car new was more along 50k'ish? (right?, and that was back then!) to be fair youd have to drive the equivilent of that... problem is honda doesnt have a "step" between the s2000 and NSX.. the last year of the prelude had 205hp, that was honda's sole sports coupe they SHOULD of retained.. very very very solid car, my friends had 195k on it before he had to let it go, his was a 99...
IMHO honda dropped the 2 main cars I liked that they made that were AFFORDABLE sports cars and that was the type-r and the prelude..... and if left stock on the outside they are fairly nice!
i am not pro-japanese cars by far... but they produced some nice vehicles in the 90's that I wish would of continued or evolved the PROPER way.. ie the mr2 spyder.. what kind of crap is that? anyone remeber the 2.0 turbo making 200hp in 91-95? that was the real MR2... and the RX7 evolved into a ugly ugly car from its R1 edition in 97 to the peice of junk it is today in 05....
what happened to the supra?
why cant we have a skyline?
i do agree with you that the RSX-S is a peice... of shyte!... maybe its too portly or something, but for having 200hp claimed, its very very slow.
off topic a little, anyone ever drive a R32? the VW???? i bet that thing can snack on some serious V8's

Watch the fat bastid comments. I sat in a STi at the auto show last year and have to say it was a tight fit. I am not fat though, I am 6'5" and 210lbs. Maybe they should have the Not A Scrawny Runt option.

We do have a Skyline, it's called the G35. We just haven't got the GT-R version yet, which will be marketed worldwide as an Infinity from now on, or at least in the next year or so.

After driving my friend's 240SX, i'm actually very impressed. I'll never sell my S2 (Dumped too much money into it) - but it gives me something to think about rather than spending more money on it.

totally agree that hondas are crap! my 85 prelude went up to 275k before i blew a sparkplug out of it - $600 later and it was still running...(had to replace the clutch twice in 175k miles and one alternator went...junk i tell you!) and with only a paltry 108 hp little sewing maching 1.8 liter engine it was slow as several v6 powered rivals
then stupid me bought a 92 lude si and put 215k on that junk heap...had to replace a clutch twice and one axle (talk about unreliable)...and it's weak 2.3 liter engine only made 163hp and 160lb ft of torque less than my porsche's 2.4 liter engine of 150hp and 150lb ft...technology is definitely behind at honduh
still didn't learn a lesson and bought a pos 1988 CRX...talk about a joke 1.6 liters and 108hp! of course i was poor and could only afford these gutter priced junkheaps and had to weather all the problems until i sold it with 315k miles on it (that car also went through 2 clutches in 300k miles, axles (3 total)...and it was slow especially when ITA prepped and couldn't brake with these tiny calipers...then it had a double turkey wishbone suspension that couldn't
of course i'm prone to the same mistake...i let my wife get a tsx and what a load of crap that is...a peaky 4 cylinder than has 80% of its torque at 1800rpms and can pull up the mountains in 6th gear
as someone said before...comparing a porsche built for speed and costing twice as much should make you feel superior (at least i hope)...try comparing an m3 or m coupe instead

Its not the height, its the weight. According to many studies done in the States, WE ARE FAT PERIOD. We overeat (myself included), don't work out much (guilty of that too), supersize everything, and are oversized because fat is bigger than muscle. If I had more muscle than fat, I wouldn't have a mini potbelly compared to the days when I was working on my 8 packs from my 6. I fit in most seats comfortably at 165 pounds so I don't have problems like some of you. As for this Japanese car stuff, I figure Porsche hired Japanese car consultants to advise them on how to run their business for a reason: so they won't go bankrupt in the early 90s. Its ironic one of the symbolic things they made one of the executives of Porsche do is physically cut an 8 ft+ high parts bin down to 2 4 ft ones (made things too easy, it can't be a German idea). Porsches are not designed with common sense in mind in many areas and the Japanese are just superior (durability, reliability, accessibility, cost effectiveness, ergonomics, fuel efficiency, just to name a few things). My 81 accord was on its first PS rack when I sold it 3 years ago. It had the original engine, working a/c charged from 1981, 2 clutches ($225 parts and labor to replace), 353k miles @ 27 mpg avg., and easy to work on with lots of inexpensive parts I can buy anywhere.
Anyways, I don't think anyone who wrenches extensively on the 944 who has ALSO worked on their Hondas will think differently.
