OK. Not sure what else to say.

still could pass your 951 on a straight in a heartbeat on the RR bro..
I ride as well and know quick motorcycles are. I've ridden every version of the CBR 600 since 90 Except the RR. This thread isn't about car vs bike.

Instead of justifying you expenses, quantify your opinion of why certain cars are so good.

I ended up getting a 944T several years back when i was tried of driving my grocery getter. I pretty much didnt like anything I saw until a 944 passed me. I had no clue what it was or how much it cost, I just knew i had to have one. A few month later, volia. Now im on my second one, cant afford it until I get my commerce site up, but ill die before i let it go.

Streck I understand its not bikes vs threads, but I was just using a comparison of what you think is fast vs what others may think.. .everything IS subjective to opinion.. i just didnt appreciate you wording your post (or the way I understood it) as A) I couldnt afford one B) dont know what im talking about and C) there is no other answer as a sub 10k car

i am a member of the band here im just saying there are other great cars out.. period, dont try to rip someone apart.

cool?

I did not mean to suggest that it is a bad thing to not be able to afford one of these cars, merely that your choice may have been finacially motivated.

I'm not suggesting you domn't know what you're talking about. I'm just trying to get you to quantify (C). Which cars are as good or better than the 944/51 and why?

cool?

Always.

OK, so say I personally don't care for the MR2 (and its manifold cracking problem), please add some comparable sports cars pricewise and HP wise to the list to prove your statement.

If you would of read back a few posts i listed about 8 or so cars i personally like that are in the sub 10k range.. so i have already provided my answer... IF you have cars to add or whatever feel free... the RX7, MK2 supra, VR4, someone else posted a CRX.. (which is a great car.. just not stock.. ) maybe even a XR4Ti in that lineup... perhaps a turbo probe (look..i know its not a porsche)... im just offering other cars for the lineup of sub 10k cars.. the GTI vw's, the corrado (turbo OR supercharged) ect ect... review further back

But why do you feel they are as good as the 944/951? Which VR4? I thought the Mistubishi VR4 was still a fair bit over $10k.

because they can all accomplish the same things... speed+handling.. granted, something like a ford probe turbo would need some serious tuning to hold a candle to a 951, but for what you pay and the difference, it equals 10k easy.,.. on the other hand you can pick up a mitsu vr4 for 10k with appropriate miles.. just like you will a 951 (what, avg around 110k or so?) i mean, if you have a 951 that has 30k on it... its not a 10k car... more like 17k or so (depending on everything else of course) my other pick, aside from the MR2 which i am partial to, is the corrado..

essentially, these are cars I would own, if I didnt have the porsche 944 as a fun car... (well not the probe..) but its all taste.. the mr2 and the VW both are sweet.. even the SVX.. i think a lot of people viewing this thread are taking this wrong.. i love my 944... im just saying if i had something else, those are the cars I could have fun with.

my initial post was you cant compare a 951 to a RSX-S and why.. the RSX sucked period when I drove it.... no power until 6500 rpms? egh... not for me... someone else commented on that the 951 is the only sports car to own under 10k and that is simply just not true.... YES i have a 944, so I agree it is a fantastic machine... but its one of those questions where there is more than one answer, and everyones is correct, even if its wrong.

When I wrote 'quantify', I was hoping you'd throw some numbers into the mix; 0-60, 1/4 mile, slolom, etc.

I know the Corrado is a good car and would be a competitor for the 944 but is not nearly as capable as the 951.

The VR4 is quick but is complicated and heavy. At 3,900lbs, it gives up almost 900 to the 951. That really hurts it in the handling department. Some higher milage examples can be had for about $10k so that works as a competitor to the 951.

I almost bought a mint 92 VR4 with 52,000 miles for $9,000. They are cheaper than you think. They made quite a few.

I thought of you when he posted that. Did you get an opportunity to drive it?

And I did. I just can't picture the Corrado or the Saab in the same category as a Porsche 951. Just because they're now in the same price range after depreciation, doesn't mean they're in the same class. The 951 had its own int'l racing series. I don't think that was the case with the Veedub or Saab.

VW corrado (supercharged or turbo'd.. your choice of platform right from the factory)
Saab Viggen (Turbo'd) 227hp
RX7
M3 (early model)
300ZX
3000gt (VR4 of course).
The RX7 always stood out as the "wannabe 951". Didn't know they were so cheap now, but the latest version is definitely underpowered. Maybe the early M3 or the 300ZX, but from what I've read they might be considerably more expensive to keep in running condition than a $7K 951.

I think you're overlooking the fact that very few 951s are in the $10K range. More like in the $7K range. The bang for buck you get from the 944 Turbo is very hard to beat, especially when you factor in how cheaply you can increase its HP.
