Default Found a dent - can I pop it?

Man, you can hardly tell it's there, it's so slight.
Just behind the right rear wheel, my wife noticed the bottom portion of the fender is bowed in, instead of out. It's not bad at all, and it's no wonder I didn't notice it at the lot. It looks like someone could have pressed in hard with thier hand.

Lifting the cover that covers the cubby hole back there, I think I can push it out using a small jack or something, braced against the opposite side of the cubby.
The metal isn't creased or anything. When she first pointed it out, I didn't even see what she was talking about, and I had to compare it with the other side. It looked like the car was made that way!

you could push it out a bit, but you won't get it perfect and will have to do some body work. So unless you want to do that, then just leave it alone. It may be worh a try depending on how bad it is, but I am just saying, don't expect a perfect fix doing it like that.

I had 2 good sized dents on the rear roof pillar of my bmw, and I took it to a paintless dent removal place, and they were able to *massage* it out with an array of neat tools. I was AMAZED at how they did it. Try to find one in your local area, they will prob only charge you like 40 bucks or so.

It's really hardly noticeable. I woulnd't bet on my not getting it perfect though. I used to be an armourer in the SCA making body armour...you know, knights in shining armour and stuff like that. English wheel, anvil, and all.
Althought I've never done it on painted metal though...
I haven't broken out my radius guage yet to measure the difference between left and right fenders though.

I'm tempted to wait untill I decide whether or not to repaint. If I do, I'll have them heat the area with a blowtorch and pour icewater on it. It should pop itself right back into shape.

Why not just use a suction cup? It has taken out quite a few dents that were in my 86, afterwards, it was rather difficult to tell that they were even there. They were only visible since the paint was spiderwebbed around the edges of the dent.

Paintless dent removal is a magical thing! Ask me how I know... you won't be disappointed!

Yep, take it to paintless dent removal. The rear quarter panels are 90% hollow too so they can get behind it most likely.

Depending on where and how big it is you might could pop it out from the inside with a rubber mallet. When I slid my car backwards into a ditch a few winters ago the only damage, other than to my pride, was to the spare tire well and a smooth dent in the left rear like what you seem to be describing. I took a rubber mallet to both and they *popped* right out. I am sure you can probably tell if you get up close and look, but for the most part they are not very obvious.

One of those 300Lbs suction cups from a auto parts store may work......
