Default Shift **** insert

When removing my stock shift **** insert to replace the shift boot I ended up breaking off 2 of the 3 'ears'. It looks like Rennbay has a good looking brushed stainless insert. I did a search but didn't see anyone saying they had used one. Anyone? Did it have the 'ears' on it? If not, did it need to glued in?

In searching I noticed a similar looking product sold in the UK by Prestige Parts and also someone by the name of Joe Jackson was selling them back in '03.
Anyone have experience with these?

Also, does anyone have a pic of what the adapter looks like that allows you to mount a Momo-type **** to the rectangular shift shaft?

if you dont mind getting the stock one, i bought a used one from a guy for 5$, looked more appealing then the 25-40 for the special metal ones. a post in the want ads board might turn up someone with a parts car being able to send you one

A pile of us picked up the "Joe Jackson" inserts including myself. I have the "turbo" model and it's perfect. I would buy it again.

I believe Joe supplies Rennbay but I may be mistaken.

Ha! I bought a new leather shifter boot from Allen Gun with a new shift disc to replace the one I broke. Well, it installed well, the new boot and the shifter schematic.
Our local Porsche dealer put on a free inspection of your Porky car last Saturday, and on the luckliy very sparse list of things to correct was the shifter schematic showed reverse to be up and left instead of where it is at!
I'm really happy with the black leather boot, nice. I have a used one in burgundy leather with the shift **** too for sale if anyone wants it.

you need to get one of the Rennbay inserts (not the aluminum ones) - get the black on with the nickle shift pattern. It's sweet I have it.

Do the Rennbay inserts have the 'ears' on the back like the stock one? If not, do you need to glue it in?

You could just put yours back in. I've done two ***** without all three ears. No problemo. In fact, it's easier to do without the "extra" ears.

There is no glueing on the Rennbay caps.

Yeah, you dont need those ears, just put it in without them, they mostly just help you get it straight. its not hard though.
