Default F/S - '83 944, 58000 Orig. Miles, SEPA, $6000 - Now With Pics!

I am putting my 1983 Gemini Grey 944 up for sale to raise money for a commuter car.

1983 Porsche 944, 5 speed, working A/C (nice and cold), 58,000 original miles, immaculate interior, very good exterior, paint has some stone chips, no dents. Recent belts, rollers, plugs, air filter. I did a head job in August 2004 when the timing belt roller broke. Everything works, very clean. Has black interior with the Berber seats. I have the original radio (the one it came with, don't know if it is the factory original), but it is not installed. Has 10-30 Amsoil in the motor and synthetic tranny fluid. I've put about 2000 miles on it since August 2004.

Asking $6000 with the 16" phone dials and Dunlop SP8000's that are on it now. I have 15" cookies with good BFG's that came with it, for $5500. I am located in southeast PA, outside of Allentown.

I might be interested in those 16'' phone dials (early offset?) if the buyer doesn't want them.

Yes, they are early offset, but if they don't go with the car, I'll save them for my other 944.

First off, beautiful car! Second, the price is a tad high for any early 944.

Has the clutch been replaced? Oil cooler seals?

For a low mileage car, if it has an uncracked dash and the upholstery is in excellent condition, and it has no corrosion, then I think that is a fair price. Of course, does everything electrical work? AC?

When you get away from the college-student-on-a-budget crowd, you'll find plenty of 944s out there in healthy condition with this kind of an asking price . . .

The difference between a $2000 car and a $6000 car is usually in the details and the "unnecessary-to-get-from-point-A-to-point-B parts" . . .

Cheers,

Tony

Tony, I think you and I were separated at birth

I would actually consider spending more for an original early car (esp. an '83)than a late... and your seats are to die for

That's a very nice car. GL.

I doubt Tony get his jollys from looking at '78 928's with black and white psychedelic checkered interior.

I once saw a dark misty green early 928 with dk green and white swirly checker interior - now that was cool! I'd have bought that car on the spot just for weirdness!!!

Stephen, I shared that with you in private. And what I may look at in my free time is my business!

Oil cooler seals - I have to check the records.
The clutch is original.
The dash has very minor cracks, like three of them barely a millimeter wide and maybe a centimeter long.
Absolutely everything works and the A/C is cold. No corrosion at all. Perfect interior.

I have no problem using this car as a commuter - the problem lies in the fact that I have a carpool with two other guys, so the 944 is out and my Suburban sucks too much gas to use all the time for this. I have a project 944 that will eventually become a daily driver - track car. I bought this car as my first Porsche and I paid the premium to get the best example I could, plus I saw the PO's other cars and they are all spotless as well.
