Default 924S Euro-ized Front

Finally i got the driving lights today. I purchased them from Sunset Porsche (yes the dealer) for $78 each brand new. If anyone has priced lights you'll know that they sell for almost that much used in europe. I'll post some more pictures later on.

BTW- If anyone needs part numbers for these lights let me know. Also availible are the French fog driving lights in yellow.

Enjoy!
Erich

Erich, I have 2 sets of those, one of them has a broken lens. I am trying to figure out how I am going to wire them up. what did you do?
also, do they sell replacement lenses?

Erich I have been waiting for you to show an update on your Le Mans front end. It looks great! I think this is the best mod you can do for a 924/924S front end looks. Maybe a little pricey but it's sure worth it! Very, very nice! Do you plan on getting a Euro rear bumper too?
Again nice work!

Thanks for the nice remarks. I believe you can buy just the lenses from porsche, as there is a seperate part number for them. But you might as well buy the full lights since they are not that much more im sure.

In terms of the wiring, i have yet to finish that part. Manning is the expert on that and he has given me a lot of info on it. My little summary is i need a factory switch, relay and 3 plug connector for the back of the driving light. On the 924S there is wiring on the lighting harness for the factory fog lights that were optional that i'm going to use. So it should be plug and play. I really just wanted to get the lights on to fill up the holes on the bumper, when i get the additional parts i will see how it all works.

Hope that helps!

Erich,
How about some different shots of the bumper...head on?
Is it aluminium or fiberglass? Does it have a hole for a tow eye between the left bumper and plate? (looking at the bumper from the front)

I don't have anymore pictures right now besides the one i'll post below. The bumper is the fiberglass version, i know there was a thread awhile ago about which ones where fiberglass and such. But this one is fiberglass but i have no idea what country it initially came from.

There is no tow hook on the front of it, i don't really see how that would work on this, unless you had the 951/968 style screw. But that would require an entirely different mount with the screw for the tow-eye build in.

I'll post some more pictures when i get them.
Erich

Looks good Erich.

I knew it would.

FYI, that bumper came from a 'Greymarket' import car so it is factory composite.

Glad I could help.

Hey Mark,
The bumper is in great shape, just as you described. Grey market import meaning it came from Germany?
Thanks again!

I just picked up a 'German' 944 that was bastardized in Holland to meet US specs for '84. It has an aluminium bumper with the driving lights and a hole where I mentioned earlier for a tow eye to screw into.

airbop, yeah that is some kind of freaky mixture. A true euro bumper is fiberglass, although what you have sounds like the same kind that came in saudi arabia etc. Not a bad thing, just different.

Thanks for the nice remarks. That is not a goofy question at all considering they were never put on any US 924/S's. Its called simply called the LeMans front spoiler. Porsche put this spoiler, and a rear one identical in style to the turbo rear bumper diffuser on a special model called the LeMans edition which only sold in '88 in Germany.

Here are some pictures:

I'll try and find somemore
