Default Eye candy... Ceramic coated headers

Hey everyone, I had my 'S' headers coated by HPC and I am really pleased by how they turned out:

My original headers were cracked, and I was able to buy these from another 'lister (tod84944 - great to deal with). My only regret is that in my mad search for these, I contacted two people, both of which ended up having the part, so I had to turn one down.

HPC were great, not only did they go good work, they made it very easy for me to arrange to have the headers sent to them by the seller, and then sent them on to me afterwards.

Thanks Serge &Todd,

The total for the coating (including shipping) is $189.64. They do a strip/clean operation and then apply the coating to both the inside and outside. I can look up the inside of the pipes and see the coating in all the nooks and crannies.

Nice. I've had some stuff done by HPC and have been very pleased with their work and service.

edit: I noticed you have a WRX too . Are you on NASIOC or I-club?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but why do your headers look like they are coated with metal? Shouldn't ceramic look more like pottery or something?

Not a dumb question at all. During the process it is flat white. The actual ceramic material is white in color but then it is polished rigorously until it gleams! I loved the way mine looked and I do believe they helped keep underhood temperatures down very well.

Allan, don't forget to replace your exaust manifold sealing rings on your S. It is likely that you will have an exhaust leak at the manifold if you re-use the old ones.

mwc951,
Are yours coated inside as well? I use the 2000+deg stuff for any preturbo part. EGT temps can easily exceed the rated temp for the Jet-Hot Sterling (1300deg). Ceramic coating flaking off can damage your turbo.

This is from Jet-Hot's webpage:

JET-HOT Sterling™ - Our exclusive formula works beautifully on new or used parts at temperatures up to 1,300°F. This high-luster coating, containing silver powder, shares the brilliance of chrome with the subtlety of nickel. It provides the most brilliant appearance in high-temp, high-tech coatings while delivering major performance advantages. The same basic formula is available in matte black, blue and cast-iron gray.

JET-HOT 2000™ - Formulated for very high temperatures, this rugged matte-gray coating protects substrates up to 2,450°F, heat levels sometimes encountered in Rodding and Off-Road applications.
