I'm in the same boat as scootin...my clutch siezed, so I replaced the belt and unhooked the clutch. Since I'm driving the car daily this summer, I haven't had time to start taking everything apart and removing all the A/C equipment. I don't see this solution as particularly ghetto. I'd argue that it's more ghetto to leave an uncharged, useless system fully hooked up like it's still okay.

These are cool, fun old cars...it's up to each owner how he/she wants to use the car. Don't let anyone tell you how to enjoy YOUR car! Personally, I don't miss having A/C at all. With the roof off, the 944 is very well ventilated on all but the worst Minnesota days.

The full A/C delete is my winter project (along with new control arms, and some other choice, performance-minded upgrades).

I recently completed my AC delete on my 951 and was inspired by this thread to track down the correct "cup" control unit. I didn't have any luck finding one and out of nowhere my fiancé sent me the link below. Ordered it tonight and it's on it's way from the UK. $170US with shipping

I clicked on that link, and it said "Out of Stock". Did you buy the last one? That's a good price for that, so kudos to you if you bought it.

Thinking it must have been the only one in stock as it did say "in-stock" prior to purchasing. I did receive an order confirmation so hopefully everything works out!

They have some decent prices on other parts too. Sport seats for 1K?

FYI For the Ac Delete Bracket that re-locates the Alt to where the Compressor is I run a Continental Belt 6pk720

Is that just plug-and-play even with the existing connector wired for a/c?

It's been 12 years since I installed it, but IIRC, it was just plug-n-play.
