Who has actually installed Factory 968 rockers on their car?
I want to know how difficult it was and what were the issues you had to deal with.
I think Mike Buck used the factory parts? How hard was it to get the two small pieces that go on the fender to fit properly? Any pics of your car(s) would be appreciated! I've already seen the pictures from the retailers' websites.
Thanks in advance.

Mike used sheet metal screws to attach them- his car is a racecar so his way probably wouldnt work for you. He desribed that the 968 part has kind of a track that snaps into the 968 - our cars dont have this... Im very interested in doing this as well and I will as soon as my other car is sold. Mike seemed to think that 3M body side molding tape that is used for body kits would do the trick - he said it is very strong...

Thanks for the info Sam. So how do you plan on making this work?
I spoke to Scott at UnderPressure and he said it's not as easy as we think due to the different shapes of the 951's and 968's rocker panel area. Do you have the 968 panels? If so, can you take some pics of both sides so I can try to hatch a plan to make it work.
Thanks.

Well, Mike said he sanded down the lip that comes on the rocker panels and then he said the fitment was pretty decent and them being plastic could be worked with a tad. Ive also heard of people cutting them apart and actually molding them in once attached...There is a UK company that makes the 968 rockers specifically for 944s - he had a set for cheap that I should have bought but didnt have the cash at the time. [kicking myself]
Scott Gomes is a trustworthy guy so I would definately believe what he says...

There are little clips that snap onto the back of the side skirts that have a small pointed part. It pushes into a small plastic female socket that is integrated into the body of the car.
It seems to me that you could drill holes and insert these plastic sockets IF the angle of the body is the same between the 944 and 968. Take a look at the PET and you will see what I'm talking about.
Unless you have to do bodywork anyway, it's probably not worth doing.

Yes, the 968 rockers are possible on a 944. I used factory skirts, sanded them down, and screwed them directly into the side sills and fenders. Like Sam said, one could easily switch the screws for 3M tape and get a cleaner look. I have some better pictures on my other computer at home. On travel for work until next Saturday, but I'll try to remember to post them. My buddy took some new pics at the track this weekend, too bad they don't show the rockers . . . some red car screwed up the background too

Here are some more pics. I did not use the factory gasket. Bought the rockers used for $500 and that was to include the gaskets . . . shocker, they didn't come! I sanded down the back until it was flush and went to town with my drill.

Hi,
I bought a set of OEM 968 rockers and had them painted Factory Guards Red. After thinking about it long and hard, I've decided to sell them.
I've renewed my Rennlist membership - just waiting for my avatar designation to be updated.
Here are the pics, which show the rockers still in the bubble wrap that they were covered in after painting:
Price is: $575 + shipping. Please PM with questions. Thanks!
