Default Two quick questions

1. Recently, when i push in the clutch pedal, the pedal comes halfway up, then sticks, then I can use my toe too pull it up. Now... I would suspect the master/slave cylinders, but, it doesnt happen all the time, usually when the car is cold.(The weather has been very hott too if that makes any difference?) It happens maybe once, then the rest of the ride there is absoultly no problem.

I suspect the clutch pedal spring may just need some adjustment, becuase the pedal does feel very easy to push down right now.. Any opinions? No for problem 2.

2. Now that the weather is warm out, it seems my car is running a little hott. Usually when Im driving, its at the line right before the last block. And when Im parked, its actually in the last block. (I have an early car if that makes a difference) So.. is this normal? If its not, then what should I suspect? Radiator?... Fans seem to work properly.

TIA!

near the power brake bellhousing on the firewall. If you see peeling paint on the big black brake drum-= its suspect. Brake fluid removes paint/

Check for master fluid leaks under the carpet behind the clutch pedal and at the base of the master cylinder at the firewall. Check for fuid leaks at the slave by pulling the rubber plug on the side of the bellhousing, dip your finger into the lower parts of the opening, if it's wet with brake fluid the slave is bad. If either component is leaking you should replace them both. This is one of the most common failures on 944's except for oil leaks.

Wouldn't that be his brake master cylinder if the drum was wet?

Well, I climbed down by the pedal and the master cylinder is leaking, shucks. Do you guys have any input on the heat issue? Thanks for your help.

Not sure how early your car is but if it has the twin 3-blade fans your car will always run hot like that, they just tend to cycle a lot and make lots of noise. A complete swapout with the later 6-blade turbo fans is a great easy upgrade, runs much cooler, quieter, and stabilizes the constant fan cycling. I did this on my 83 when I first got it. You might need to bleed your cooling system if you already have the 6-blade fans.

Is it dangerous running at these temperatures? Im in a little bind for money right now, so Id rather wait to upgrade the fans if possible, but replacing the fans is cheaper then rebuilding the engine ofcourse. I just want to make sure im not hurting anything from running like this.

As long as you are not in the red zone you are fine. The calibration between the actual temp and gauge reading is sort of misleading on the early cars. You can always put in a lower temp fan switch but your fans will run even more often. Clarks-Garage has a good cooling system write-up if you haven't already seen it.

The clarks garage thing confused me a little bit. I just went down and started my car and let it idle.. it went up to the final box (105 degree mark) and the passenger side fan still had not come on.. This is bad right? I tried turning the air conditioning on, but the fan still did not go on. This leads me to believe that that fan is the problem.

Check the fuse for the passenger side fan, #5. Could also be a bad relay.

Clarks-Garage has a good indepth write up.
