I am posting this for a friend. 86 944 no start. If fuel injector harnesses are unplugged from the injectors the car will start for a moment and then stall after the fuel in the rail is burned off. Anyone have any ideas? I suggested bad dme/relay.

Try plugging it all back in, then unplugging one of the injetors and seeing it it'll start then. I mean the electrical connections - not the fuel lines, etc...
If that works - you have a bad fuel pressure regulator or damper - but chances are it's the regulator.
If the car starts and runs at ALL - the DME relay is prolly ok.
HTH!
