Default My car knows when it's home...

My car ran perfect for the year I was out of town for school (Which is pretty surprising for my car). The day after I move back home it doesn't start. I bypassed the ignition switch and it fired up. I guess the switch went bad again. I believe this is the third time the switch has gone bad in 4 years, is this normal? The electronics would come on, but when I went any further nothing would happen. Oh well...atleast I'm a pro at putting them in...

Don't think that's normal... I've never had to replace the ignition switch... AFAIK, it's the original.

Anyway, didja get a new hood crest yet?

Not yet. Now I'm home so I don't have to worry about people stealing the new one, I'll do it soon.

cool. Tyler, I'm thinking there may be something wrong with the wiring if you're killing a switch every year or so... that sounds like maybe too much voltage.... I'm not completely sure though.

Anyway, if you need wiring diagrams, PM me.

yep my ignition switch is bad on the 83'. I am currently running a push-button to start it, until the switch arrives. I have talked to a couple other 83' owners not on rennlist and they had ignition switch problems too (2 out of 2 owners). Maybe its just chance, cant say

Interesting...yeah I'm running the push-button start right now as well. There is an import parts place here that usually has the switches.
Thanks for the offer Geoff, but I've got them.
Yeah Carl, I'll be talking to you at some point this week...

Well, I replaced the switch today but it didn't help. The fuel pump runs when I turn the key but the starter doesn't move. I have a start button connected directly to the starter that works. I assume the problem is electrical and somewhere between the switch and the starter, any ideas?

All of the fuses look fine, what relay would it be?
