Think about it. These cars were not cheap. There's no reason they should run like junk... they never did when they were new. All this baloney about "Porsches leak oil," and "these things stink when cold," "it's 20 years old," etc. is just a load of excuses for poorly maintained machines.

My '88 na runs just fine when cold. Getting the heavy-duty 20W-50 oil out of the engine and replacing it with 10W-40 made a recognizable improvement in cold morning smoothness. Vacuum leaks are a huge issue on these engines, and each one you find and fix will make the engine run smoother. I feel for you guys with the earlier cars with even more degredation of the rubber components and gaskets.
