Both of my 944s don't lke to accelerate when cold. You sholdn't rev the engine into high RPM until the engine warms up anyways.

This really depends on a number of factors or if there any other problems along with this. It could very well be a headgasket - any white smoke out of the exhaust? You could try a leak down/compression test to verify this.

thanks for the quick reply-I don't stomp on it when it is warming up, just a gradual push on the accelerator and it still will hesitate and jerk the car a bit. No smoke that is visable, but i'm usually looking forward

Had this problem on my 924S and also have it on my 944. Usually happens as im accelerating slowly away from my house. Ill give it a little bit of throttle and the car literally seems to die almost. Have no idea what it does, but it has never happened past one minute of driving the car.

It's just the nature of the engine when it is cold. Our aluminum engines are designed to run at high temperatures, after significant expansion.

I have the same problem with my car. If it cold (not started over night or so) it will hesitate a whole lot. Also until it is very warm (~10-15mins) it will get almost no power at about 3700-3800 rpm. If I park the car for an hour or so and start it up its fine. It didn't used to do this, so I think that its a problem that could be fixed.

Mine acts this way in the morning when I have to leave it outside overnight. Not nearly as bad when I start it up from my heated garage. I live in "cold country" too, ( NW Pennsylvania) and think it may be partially as a result of using 15W50 Mobil 1 year round. I don't drive the 44 in the winter months, so even though I change the oil before storing it for the winter, I don't bother switching to a less viscous oil. I currently have things apart and found some major leaks at the oil separator seals, the venturi tube, and a hose leading to the idle control valve. We'll see if this helps.

Mine used to hesitate when cold in the sense that I would push the throttle and there would be a momentarily delay before the engine kicked responded. It hasn't done it in some time now and I never did anything to fox it, so I have no clue. I think I remember someone suggesting replacing the O2 sensor, you could try that?

Hello Eyal, how have you confirmed that the TPS is faulty? Thanks, Felix

I just put a new TPS in, but wasnt exactly sure how align it. What is the rule? I have a click right when it opens, is that all you look for?

What part number are you guys using? Sorry for the questions all of a sudden; I'm trying to diagnose what I think could be a faulty TPS on a 993tt; it uses a 944 part, number 944 606 116 01, aka Bosch number 0 280 122 004.

I'd first start to troubleshoot this problem by replacing the spark plugs with an apropriate copper plug. I prefer NGK's, but most like Bosch coppers. Made a huge difference for my car. When carbon builds up on the plugs the spark is weaker and the plug doesn't reach appropriate operating temp as quickly.
