Default parking brake broke

As if enough things weren't going wrong with my car.. yesturday i pull into a spot and i pull up the parking lever, when it just slams back to the floor. I didnt even hear the click click click sound u ehar when you pull it up.
Well the button flew off the top with a long spring that was in there. And now inside there is somethng loose that jus bobbles there..

Anyone else have this happen? I havnt had time to look at it yet but im hoping its an easy fix.

just adding to the list of things to fix i guess...

This may have been the easiest and cheapest fix i have ever done.
Cost was nothing.. well, 4 minutes.. with 2 minutes pulling into the driveway

All i did was get the spring and the button, and put it back.. here i am thinking this is gonna be some crazy problem.. 1 fix down.. 99 to go..

My parking brake did somthing funny to me, I pulled up and felt and heard a poping noise and now i have to pull the lever up twice as far and it hardly holds the car. I Still have'nt solved the problem even with new parking brake pads.
