Hi, I am just looking for suggestions on how to fix a couple stripped holes. I was removing the cam chain tensioner in my "S" and It seems the P.O. srtipped the mounting holes and JB welded (or similar) the bolts back in. I could only get approx 10 In Lbs. off torque on them before they would "pop" and loosten. Threads are not totally ruined, I was thinking of helicoil.... But into alumnium? Anything else?

Timeserts are easier than helicoils. Either will go into aluminum with no problem. You will need to drill and tap with the manufacturers special tap in order to keep the same bolt size. Be careful to keep the chips out of your engine.

Factory Sevice Manual says M6 (7.5'lbs torque) without any thread designation so probably standard or coarse.
Good thing you were checking it. I doubt JB weld would hold it together for any long period of time.

that is 7.5 foot lbs right? Mabyee I was trying to over tighten it too..... I will have to double check my torque specs. What is the torque on the oil tube bolts.... And the Valve cover.

The banjo bolt/chain tensioner is M8x1 and also 7.5lbs torque. Valve cover bolts are M6 and 7.5lbs.
Yeah, that seems low to me as well but that is from the factory manual.

In a situation like this, I'd have someone who really knows what they're doing look after it. Too much at risk and too easy to screw up..
