Default AIR Splitter... Meet Manhole Cover

This is what happens when the car is too low, plus you have a splitter, you aren't paying full attention, and you hit a manhole cover sticking up on a road that is under construction.

Is this fixable?

Was it marked with cones or flags? Have the city or company buy you a new splitter. It looks like you cracked the the bumber cover as well.

Ouch indeed.

Sorry to see that man....thats the main reason I now have a GT-Racing splitter...not only can you F/U the splitter but it can also do some serious damage to the bumper cover..and those arent cheap...

I hit it at like 5 or 10 mph because I was turning. It was not marked and I didn't see it because it was at night. It was so loud that I thought I hit the radiator support. But luckily, I didn't. Front end is cracked up bad. I have another one because that front end was cracked a little from before so I don't care that much. But the splitter....ugh, it was brand new. First day driving my car too, lol.

if your car has the minimum clearance prescribed in your area's traffic code, and that manhole was unmarked, go after the city.

looks to be a litle lower than stock.

i thought that look was only on the ricers, what do you have 2-3".

i would imagine they were paving the street and the manhole cover was sticking up but the asphalt around it had been removed.

Damn straight. I'd put in a complaint with DPW pronto. Cities generally have "pothole funds" to cover stuff like this. If it wasn't properly signed, nail 'em.

Your chances of getting one red dime from the city are about as good as you making babies with an SI swimsuit model. I dont care if you bring in flowcharts, photos, and a stack of diagrams ala Ross Perot, its not going to mean anything. All they will do is big up some statute from 1891 that says anyone on public roads engages in implied risk or something and you are screwed, brewed, and tattood.

You are trying to win a case against the very people who are in the back pockets of the judges. Good luck on that one.

Since when is having a low car the 'ricer' look?

I am not going to even try with the city. But I do need to find a replacement splitter I guess. For now I will just roll with my cracked front end and splitter, looks sweet dude!
