Default Suuuuweeeeet! It's done! :D

Here's the completed compressor in my carriage house (excuse the mess, I'll clean it later ).
First is the compressor in place. There are three outlets for tools: one at the compressor, one at the workbench, and one on an overhead reel with 25' of line!

that is awesome! so what things beside the compressor were needed to be bought? what type of lines to make it run across the ceiling and what not? what about those angle connectors? in our new house i'm looking at installing something similar in the garage...

also, where is a good place to purchase a compressor?

hehe sorry for the 20 questions.

Damn, I thought your car was finished! Will you be ready for 944Fest? BTW, how did you get along so long w/o a compressor?

We (NISsport) got the same one from Northern Tool. Of course, we had to pay $30 more.

Jake:

I bought the compressor at Menard's, a home improvement store in the mid-west. We ended up getting 60' of 3/8" copper water tubing with various elbows and connecters and soldered them all into place. The hose reel and regulator came from Harbor Freight (there's a store near where I work). All in all, it cost another $200 or so in parts, but man is it tight! The only leak in the whole system is where Harbor Freight's reel attaches to itself! Geoff did an amazing job putting it all together and I'm itching to start using it. I'm happy to help you with any questions I can.

God, Winslow, I WISH! I sent my pistons off to Lindsey to be coated and won't have them back for 2 or 3 weeks. After that, I hope to have the engine together pretty quick. I'm getting tired of seeing Chris' posts: his countdown timer is really freaking me out! Eleven weeks to get this thing done! Aaaaarrrrrgggggghhhhh

And I really don't know how I've lived without a compressor. As a matter of fact, since we just finished tonight at about 8pm - I'm not sure what it's like to live WITH it!

Looks great! I'm envious, no air tools for me. That box is well traveled, I've used it as a 944 cover too!

Michelle, That is SO cool for a girl pick out a compressor and install it!
At first glance I assocated it with my water heater and thought "Where arer the earthquake straps", obviously it's a CA thing. Perhaps a suggestion? Threaded connections will provide stronger mechanical connections and flex, especially under pressure.

Michelle, what sort of coatings are you having done? Are you coating the piston crowns with a thermal barrier, or do you have aftermarket pistons that you're having coated to work in the factory bores?

Michelle, looks good!

If you want to hear the worst car dealer story in history give me a call tonight. I was spitting nails last night.
