Default Exterior Bulb Purchase

I get requests for various bulbs like the 35 watt halogen #1156 for the brake and reverse lights, amber #1155 bulbs for clear sidemarker lenses as well as regular high quality #1155, #1156, #1157, and who knows what else.

I'll do a one time repeat of the bulb buy that occured in July 2003 if people want so I don't keep getting hit with these little requests and so Rennlisters can get some high quality bulbs. Alol the bulbs will have nickel plated bases, high quality, made in Germany, etc. Usually by Philips/Narva, or Osram.

Here are the common bulbs I get requests for and the pricing:

#1156 Halogen 35 watt that fits the standard socket: $6.75
#1155 amber 5 watt marker: 1.95
#1155: 0.80
#1156: 0.80
#1157: 0.90
100/90w H4: 12.00
60/55w H4 30% boosted: 10.00
60/55w H4 50% boosted: 18.00
55w H3: 5.00
55w H3 All Weather Filter (more yellow wave length light): $12
100w H3: 7.00

And I guess anything else you want, if you know what you want.

Here is what the 944 series car takes on the typical major exterior lights, outside of headlights and license plate:

Tail light Turn #1156: 2
Tail light Reverse #1156: 2
Tail light Stop #1156: 2
Tail light Running #1155: 2
Side Markers #1155: 4
Front Turn/Running #1157: 2
Underhood #1156: 1
Third Brake Eye #1156: 1

A note on the 60/55 watt H4 headlight bulbs. You want to get a "boosted" bulb. If it is from a good manufacturer here is the deal. H4 bulbs are legally required to put out 1000 lumens +/- 15%. So anywhere between 850 and 1150 lumens. Bad bulbs may be down at the lower limit of 850. Normal bulbs somewhere around 1000. The 30% boosted bulbs use better gas, filament, and manufacturing technology so the average bulb off the manufacturing line puts out upwards of the legal limit of 1150. The 30% boosted claim is from the marketing staff of manufacturers comparing an assumed crummy bulb at 850 to one at 1150.

The 50%, or even higher claims, boosted bulbs still put out upwards of 1150 total legal lumens. How do they claim 50% boosted? They wind the filament a bit different and steal light from other sectors, like the sides, and put it in the central hot spot. So you can see a bit further down the road, but not as well to the sides. So don't think of them as a magic light that somehow is better on an absolute basis - it is a trade off. More down the road but less at the sides where kids and critters are lurking.

Shipping and packing will be around $4.50 to $5.50 in the lower 48 USA, doesn't really matter how many bulbs you order.

I'll leave this open for a few days so sign up sooner rather than later.

Dan,

Thank you for reading my mind! After replacing a slew of bulbs recently I was wondering if I would ever get the chance to restock.

I would like:

3 - 1156 35w halogen
6 - 1156
6 - 1155
2 - 1157
2 - 55w H3
2 - 55w H3 All Weather Filter

I'll PM you the shipping address when you tell me it's time. Thanks again! (Here's another one I owe you.)

Terry,

Well there weren't too many takers on this but I have your bulbs coming in on Wed with another order for headlight bulbs.

E-Mail me at wraydan@msn.com for my address to send check to or just PayPal. Total is $70.15 with shipping, just make it $70 even.

Ahhhh, ...... last Friday. I put in the misc bulb order with some headlight bulbs.

I can do it again in a month or two. With the cheaper bulbs, like the 80 cent ones it just ain't worth it to you due to inbound shipping costs. I've got to combine it with a bigger bulb order and spread the per bulb cost out. Well, actually it still is probably cheaper by a little and you get better bulbs, but I would rather make it even cheaper.

Anyway, if you want some, I'll start a list and get them with the next regular order.
