I dont like how the Celicas look. Good car, but its gotta pass my look test. I did some reading up on the all trac site. Nice car. Im not convinced on Toyotas AWD. Id prefer to stick with Suby or Audi.

I know it sounds like Im ruling out the entire competition, but Im picky. You should see when Im shopping for socks.

Well the SVX hunt is has been slow going. Apparently these cars had massive transmission problems. Epidemic proportions. Great car if you can find one that wont have a tranny die on you, but its been difficult for me because Im not looking to inherit a problem. Kind of like the last gen RX-7s. Stupendous car hobbled by bad apples.

So Ive broadden my scope a bit even though I said I wouldnt.

By pure luck I found a 1991 BMW 325IX locally. 120,000 miles. Looks to be fairly good condition. Asking $3600. One owner car.

1991 BMW 325IX 120,000 miles.

Anyone care to chime in. Do these cars have major issues?

As I stated earlier, I need a car to get 75,000 miles and/or 6yrs. What are the major expenses on these babies? And most importantly, is the AWD on these 325s purely ornamental or does it really work along the same level as a Subaru or Audi.

Edit:

I called the owner of the car. He works at an Acura dealership and the car was a trade-in on a new Acura. Older couple. Back seats never used. Rear passenger window doesnt go down. Stone chips on the front, etc etc.. Other than that he says interior is impeccable. Heated seats. AC blows cold. Automatic. Drives great. Hes been driving it the last couple of weeks and was gonna give it to his son, but his son doesnt like it. He did say one of the service lights came on recently, could be because he just crossed 120,000 mile barrier. For you BMW people, is this plausible? He said car was serviced at 100K by owners.

$3600 though. Im thinking if I got it close to $3000 than $4000 Id be looking pretty good for a car of this kind?
