It took me a couple of days, working on it during breaks I would take when I did my engine swap. As far as an exact process, I don't have a step by step. Just sand until smooth with coarse grits working down to fine and then polish, using power tools whenever possible.

My hand hurts from using the power drill, I can't imagine how bad it'll be when I actually start sanding by hand
