If you used a box end wrench check it for relief. That is some box ends have a tappered entry where the actual flat to flat contact is about an 1/8" into the wrench.
I took a cheap 1/2" drive six point impact socket (black oxide) and cut it off so it just fit over the bolt head with a breaker bar on it. Full contact with the bolt head's flats. No lead in. You can also back off the four bolts that hold the cross member a bit to get better access to the bolt.
