Default Need PPI in Dallas area.

I'm going to look at an '86 951 in Rowlett this weekend. The owner would prefer having the PPI done in Dallas instead of letting me take the car back to Fort Worth so I need some advice on where to get the PPI done closer to him.

Thanks

Zims is in Fort Worth/Euless, unless they have a shop in Dallas I don't know about. If the owner would let me bring it over to Fort Worth area I would use Istook's but he has already said he wants me to keep it in the Dallas area. I will try to talk him into letting me take it over here though.

Pretty simple, you take it where you want or dont buy it. Damn sure dont let him tell you where you take it.

i agree with matt...you want to buy it...whether he wants to sell it or not is up to him. you should be stern saying you're going to take that b*tch wherever you want

No one in the area knows more about 944's than Don Istook. If he's afraid to let you take it there, I am guessing there is a reason. Tell him you'll buy the gas and he can come along if he wants, bu that you will walk away if you can't take it where you want.

Amen Scott.

Mein Gott, it's not like you want to take it to Houston or something like that. Geez.

Yeah, that's kind of what I thought but I wasn't sure if I was being a jerk since I figured there probably was a good shop in Dallas.

Well, I'm going to look at the car tommorrow at 4:00 and if it looks worthwhile, the owner will take it to Istook's next Sat. for the PPI. If Ican set up a PPI for Saturday that is. Guess it's good that he's so protective of his car, that must means he loves it. Jake, if you still wanna meet me out there I would love to have your advice. I'll even buy you a couple beers for the trouble.

If he's not out racing, yeah, he'll be around the shop.

Is that right Scott? For some reason I thougth he was only open M-F. Last time I was there I wanted to talk with him, but I couldn't get there until Sat.

I'll have to stop in soon - I'm going to need some things done to my engine.

I think they are there on Sat. mornings but not sure. Don gave me his cell # so I can call him while out looking at the car. I will find out for sure this afternoon whether he is open on Saturdays.

Regards,
Gentlemen, I am the owner of the vehicle.

You may be in the habit of tossing your Porsche keys to someone you don't know with the verbal assurances that the shop is only 65 miles away and your car will be returned in a couple of days however that makes me a bit uncomfortable. I believe insurance companies are currently paying blue book value on these cars irrespective of any amount of time and money invested and this only covers me, not an interested party.

Matt H. I'm sure your sage advice was well meant but it was akin to suggesting to someone that it would be prudent to look both ways before crossing a busy street. Not exactly a paradigm shift in automotive thinking. Was this one of your better days?

SH944 "If he's afraid to let you take it there, I am guessing there is a reason." Uncomfortable is a more accurate term and I believe this has been addressed.

Apex came to look at the car Sat. If he wishes to continue I have agreed to drive the car to Istooks for the inspection. This would be a 140 mile round trip and consume most of the day. Unreasonable? I think not.

Regards,
Owner
