Default Noisy wipers

I noticed that the wipers are noisy on my car. I removed the wipers and repainted them and thought some lube might be in order, but its still noisy and it sounds like its in the gear reduction at the motor. Are these things naturally noisy or what. It looks like a real PITA to replace a moto.

Default Noisy wipers

Yeah, mine are noisy too.It appears the engineers designed too many moving parts to clean the wind shield.I could not believe the amont of pieces involved when I went in to fix mine.Ridiculous!

Mine are falling apart, but at least they're quiet!

Does the noise seem to come from the motor, or the mechanism? It could be that the grease in the motor drive has finally flung itself everywhere but on the gears. I doubt they'd need replacing, but the mechanism is a pig to get out IIRC...

The noise seems to be coming out of the gears and it is verging on screeching. I take it that noisy wipers is not 944 normal.

Sounds like a lack of grease. I don't recall how hard it is to get the motor out, but it sounds like it's worth a go. When you have the motor disconnected, take off the wiper arms, and try the mechanism too. BUT WHATEVER YOU DO, DONT LUBRICATE INSIDE THE BALL JOINT ON THE MECHANISM.

You painted and lubed the wipers, or the wiper arms? Where did you lube?

They should not be noisy. It should be easy to find out where the noise is coming from if you listen from outside the car.

Yes I realize after re-reading my own post how stupid it sounds. I removed the wiper arms and re-finished them. I ran the motor sans the arms to listen for sounds. It is difficult to determine the exact source of the noise but based on the comments from you guys I'm thinking to pull the thing apart. Number one issue on my car is that it was put up in a barn for two years without prep.
