Default A/C compressor

Hi guys
I am looking at buying a replacement a/c compressor for the one that seized during the road trip.
Porsche in Brisbane told me about $1000+ and advised to go elswhere.
What is the opinion of this on ebay:

Thanks

Check with George B (944ecology) Or Ian's 944online.com for a good used compressor. I paid 100$ for my used AC compressor 5 years ago at Ian's- Still works fine.
PS- You may want to change the title of this thread to Wanted: AC Compressor.

A lot of people here on the boards are parting xars now (Tod, Danny, Andy are just a few I can think of off the top of my head.)

I paid $50 for one on ebay. I see that the Porsche rats are chewing on new car already, dam those rats. I like your posts I think it's really cool to read things from Porsche 944 owners from all the out in the land of AUS

I have had some problems with the 944online order form. It wont accept that my postcode has only 4 numbers or that my phone # has 8 numbers.

Give Bob Whymm's Automotive a call. They're located in Sydney, I once had a radiator shipped to Ipswich from them. Shipped overnight and freight was about $20, radiator was about $400 and something, which compares really favourably to parts prices elsewhere for these cars, so hopefully an A/C compressor will not be too badly priced from them either. PM me for their number if you're interested, they also stock nearly any other part put on a Porsche.

From memory I'm prettty sure that REPCO have a replacement AC comp also. for around the $500AUD mark. The guy at my local store had a Denso catalogue which listed the 944.
