Alright.

Put it up on stands. Wheels off. In gear, forward and reverse, no noise.

Put wheels back on. Go for drive. Noise starts up after about 5 minutes. Does it very loud EVERY time in push in the clutch. Some times while just cruising, while backing off the throttle.

I am leaking a good amount of oil from bad seals. Could this have eaten up a rubber bushing/mount somewhere?

Something is hitting somewhere.......

Torque tube? Clutch? CV?

Do you think the oil bath has lead to it's demise?

I think the PO had a clutch done before I got the car,

PS Sorry to here about your A/C,,,,,,

James, are you going to be around on Friday? Maybe we could pick up my short block and look at your noise.

hmmm....clutch should be pretty new and may be spring centered. Could have lost a bearing in the TT. If Kevin can drive it he can probably tell. Kevin, why the short block?

Kevin,

Yes and yes,

I was at your shop yesterday, sorry I missed ya, but the nissan HAD to have 2 new tires. Belts sticking out.....

Both CV's are shot, motor mount is cracked, rear brake wheel cylinders are leaking.....

Let me know what time you want to get together...

James, did we do all the work or just the tires? And who did you talk to? As to Friday, the earlier the better, I'm thinking like 8:00am.

Matt, I'm literally blowing oil filters off the boss, must have a stuck oprv, and quite certain that I've ruptered the oil cooler. So, I have located a short block that has the oprv, and oil cooler for less than the cost of either of the two parts. So, I'm going to rob those parts off, and put the block on an engine stand and start working on a bottom end refresh, to later put into the car.

I had the same problem, although my thumping problem was in direct relation to the number of cats in the neighborhood...

Kevin,
Scott helped me out. Just the tires. Other stuff will have to wait a little while and probably be a DIY project.

Matt,
Just checked the papers that the PO gave me with the car, Clutch was done in 2000.

Seems strange it would be the clutch. Jennifer was in a bad accident this afternoon which might put a damper on me traveling down there in May. It will depend on how the insurance is settling and how much I have to put out for a new car.

Holy cats Matt!

We'll keep her in our prayers. Glad she's OK.

Which car is a write-off? Having been through that two years ago, I know it can be a real PITA.

The 540 George. I was going to replace it in a few months because it was almost paid off (of course).

Now to find a replacement.

BTW, she is walking (but hurting). I will have pics of the car in the PM.
