OK heres what my sunroof motor thingy looks like. The only thing I think you might be talking about is that thing that looks like a screw thats screwed into a nut. I used a 7 or 8mm socket on it and it turns the screw and bolt in or out, but I didnt see anything happen to the sunroof. Do I have to have the car running. I thought maybe the bolt was just a bolt holding the mechanism to the car.

I dunno WTF. Thats my conclusion.

Go ahead and use the above nut but be careful as you can adjust the thing so much that the nut unfastens itself. It takes a few turns and moves the top slowly.

OK when I turned it, it didnt do anything. Which way closes the roof. "Tightening" it?? do I need the car running? I think I just had the radio on (first position on ignition).

You don't even need the key in the ignition. Seems like I remember counter-clockwise lets the roof down.

OK that bolt is a 7mm bolt. I ratcheted it in both directions, while the car was stopped and while the car was running. The sunroof didnt budge at all. I shake gently on the sunroof and its like its in the "locked" position. There is no play. The bolt turn didnt do a thing.

Cars suck.

strange. Sounds like you may have problems in the transmission on the roof. maybe the gears have stripped. CCW looks as though it sould do something!.

When you operate the switch (in the "2" position), can you hear the motor turning?

Nah no motor sound. Although its NEVER failed to motor up. And it didnt this weekend either. Works perfect going up. Just like there is no juice to go down. If the gears were stripped I would think going up would be an issue too.

If you need any parts, let me know. I have a complete working sunroof assembly.
