Autopower Roll Bar question
I think some of you may have the race roll bar from Autopower in your cars. I am looking at a race one right now confused wondering if I have to remove the rear seat back from my car or does it have to stay permanently stationary (up or down) when installing. Anyone know about the Autopower bar?

here's a picture of my rollbar in the car. i removed the rear seatback before i ever installed the rollbar, but looking at the bar in the car, i really don't think you can have the seatback up because it will interfere with the mounting locations for the fenderwell brace. you MAY be able to mount it with the seatback down if you don't have the diagonal crossbar like i have. otherwise i don't think it will fit in your car without removing the seatback

ok thanks Joseph. I wasn't exactly gonna be taking the entire rear seat back out. Strange though, IO Port Racing has an asterisk saying that the seat back must be stationary with the street bar and nothing with the race. The race one seems to eliminate it overall.

good question. the seat is mounted on sliders and scooted all the way back so i can more easily enter and exit the car. when i'm in the seat, it's scooted forward about 8 inches so the bar more evenly aligns with the seat holes. if the seat were higher, i wouldn't be able to wear a helmet (i'm 6 feet tall).
besides, harnesses aren't legal for the street, and i find the stock seatbelt adequate for the DE-type driving i'm doing if i insert the lap belt through the holes on the seat.

You do not have to remove the rear seat to run the race rollbar. I have the race bar with the harness bar and my rear seat is in the "up" position. The seat does have to remain stationary once it's installed. Install is pretty much as follows:
1. Drop the rear seat and lower the bar into the car through the rear hatch with the wheel well mounts/bars removed.
2. Install wheel well bars and position bar into final mounting position.
3. Mark/drill the mounting holes in floor board and wheel wells (I installed 1 bolt on each side of the floorboard t keep the bar stationary while I drilled the others).
4. Remove 2 pre-mounting bolts if installed, wheel well mounting bars, and angle top of bar towards the front of the car. Place seat in upright position and reinstall the well mounting bars and put bar back into mounting position.
5. Install bolts.
The hardware that came with the bar was useless if you ask me (grade 5). I went to Ace and picked up grade 8 Allen hardware and washers. It will really help if you have the rear tires off the car when you do it. Try and have the jackstands under the trailing arms instead of the body mounts. With a buddy helping me hold the bar while I drilled, it took me an hour start to finish and my seat is in the upright position.
Good Luck.

thanks for the replies guys. I usually don't keep my rear seat back up because the sun tends to dry out and eat the seam where the leather is stitched to the carpet. If I do get the roll bar, I'll just get a towel to lay over the back of it.
Thanks again guys.
