Not that I know of BUT if you take a hose and punch holes in it, some water is coming out places other than the end of the hose if you know what I mean

I did consider that too. Here's another detail to add to the theory though. Since the airfilter provides some restriction to the amount of air going in, this causes pressure. when the car is running and the motor is taking in the air, that filter is contributing to the pressure to. In motion the pressure will inrease in the airbox, but the air either way is still going into the motor, even with holes. I'm not trying to argue with you guys here about the holes. But, if I did compromise the pressure in my airbox, the loss of pressure/HP is so little it's irrelevant.

Just the flip side for the sake of argument, if it lost nothing and gained nothing then was it worth the 5 minutes to drill holes in it?

I would like to dyno both ways and see if it makes a difference but my stock airbox is long gone.

what kind of filter is that? by the color, it looks like one of those ricer ones you can get at pep boys in 4 different colors. Frankly, I wouldn't trust that to filter air to my car. But then again, I have a K&N cone which looks like it is for an M1 tank in my car and a lot of people hate those too.

Dude, that is absolutely the best one I've seen so far. Not quite perfect, but better than anything on the market right now.

I'm not trying to argue, but i don't understand your analogy, with the car we are using vacumn and with a hose flowing water it's using the opposite. The flow in taken by the engine is based on everything after the filter. N/A's don't lose flow rate from those holes in the top of the intake, that variable is controlled by a leak, or the throttle body.

Maybe I am not understanding it, I'm not trying to start a fight just would like to understand

I'm thinking the same. vacuum vs. pressure.

Think resonance and velocity instead.

You can find 3" pipe at Home Depot - use PVC with flex joints - it worked well for my brother's Toyota's snorkel (before the tree ripped it off).

maybe his write-up for his Toy can give you some ideas on a filter fitting....
