uh.....pushing a corner in second just brought smooth acceleration instead of the usuall rear end happy thing.
it doesnt acelerate as fast.
i dont have to measure it to know.

im thinking at least a 10hp drop and 20 or more torque. its rediculous.
besides. andy DID dyno his before and after...he lost 7 hp. and my g-meter only reads 3.5 acc instead of the before 4.5

the guy I bought my 944 from had just installed the cone air filter thing before he sold me the car...i requested for him to give me the original air box as well...sold the cone filter and hardware on ebay seeing it didn't do me any good...besides, it's a porsche, those engineers knew what they were doing even if some of the things on these cars are a little looney

I dont think you rrealize how much loss of torque the car has with this. my goal is to get the performance back (or better) with the sound and looks.

Radiator hoses will be used to find the right combo. then we will make the finished "prototype" out of metal tubing. again, I'm not trying to get the coldest air possible. im tuning for effiency of air going into the combustion chambers. like the cars with variable intake tract length.

It doesnt matter anyway what yall think or say. it may work it may not. but i'll try. which is more than some ppl have done.
Well, you can either take good advice or ignore it.

BTW, where are you going to get 3" radiator hose? And until you make a proper adapter, any such device is doomed to under-perform IMHO.

When I tested my air filter like the one you had installed, I lost 5 HP at the wheels. So I just went back to stock. It looked very nice under the hood though.

the adapter that is on there is fine geo..wth.
there is an adapter that fits on the afm and the filter fits on that.

I sincerely doubt it's fine. I've yet to see an adapter that was worth a rat. To work effectively you would need something that tapered from a 2.5-3" round (depending upon the size tubing you were using) to a square the size of the opening of the AFM. Most adapters are cheaps POS that are a ring welded to a flat piece. These things just produce huge amounts of turbulence right where you need good laminar flow (at the entry of the AFM). IMHO it's the critical downfall of every adapter I've seen. There is one that is made of ABS plastic that comes with a cheepo filter on eBay that is the best thing I've seen, but it's not ideal either.

Campeck - if you really want some type of power gain, cut a hole in the hood to match the base of the filter. Then mount the filter pointing straight up with the base of the filter level with the hoot line. Put a rubber ring around the hole to seal everything off, that way when you close the hood you'll have the most unrestricted airflow into the filter as possible. Better yet, build an air dam behind the filter to force air into it.

I'd be careful driving in the rain with this setup.

oh boy here we go again with NA cone intakes.

Ashton yes I did drop a lot of HP when I ran my burgundy NA on the dyno. Quite honestly if you are looking for sound, drill a couple of holes in the top of your air box. Ambient temperature may increase in it, however you still have the fender pipe connecting to the airbox to feed you cool air while the car is in motion. The perforations in the box top will give you the depth of sound you are looking for. Just be sure to not completely 'swiss cheese' it.

Lets take a high pressure enclosure and then drill holes in it, that makes sense. Trust Geo on this, there is a right way and a wrong way and he knows the right way.

I haven't had any loss of power issues after what I did. There maybe pressure in this airbox, but when in motion, holes on the top or not, all types of air will be sucked into the motor creating a pressure. Has anyone actually independently tested the amount of pressure in an airbox, then tried it on a perforated one to see how much psi is actually lost?
