OT Might be moving to Phoenix
Just got out of a meeting with our HR rep. and there is a 90% chance I am going to transfer to Phoenix around the middle of May or the 1st of June.
Hopefully my car will make the trip......now if I can just remember which pedal is the clutch and which one is the brake.

Since this is up here, I'm also probably going to be moving to the Phoenix area in maybe six months, give or take. What are the rent prices around there like? I don't need anthing fancy, a studio in a beat up building is fine, so long as it has a decent garage .
David, where are you currently?

Its a good place to live. You aren't coming at the best time right before summer unless you are into jetskis or boating. Where are you coming from?
Regarding rent prices, it depends on how you look at it. With the housing market booming and the interest rates low, there are probably alot of good rental deals out there. But, rent on a 2 bedroom is often the same as a mortgage on a 1200 sf house. If you can get into a house, you are almost guaranteed to make money depending on where you buy. I wouldn't rent unless you know or think the arrangement might be temporary. Or if you just want to get exposed to the city first and figure out where you want to live.

You probably don't want to live in that area. I would figure more on $600 - $800 to be in a good location. Where is your office in PHX?

Figure more like $600 a month in that part of town.
If you young and like the college scene Tempe is nice and close to the Chandler Intel Plant.
Oh don't expect a garage at that price however.

I wish I was young!
Not really sure what I am going to do for housing. Going to have to talk to my company about that one. May end up sharing a house with some other engineers so that I can have a garage.

Intel site in chandler?!?!? I can see that place from my apartament!!!!! There is a complex 5 minute walking distance from there called country brook apartaments. if memry serves a two bed was 750 so a single will be about 600. There a lot of 944's within a couple miles from the area too. Its already in the high 80's low 90's so make sure your ac is charged and leak free. The ones i live in are ridiculous. a bit over 900 a month for a two bed, and 80 more a month for a garage!! apartaments won't be hard to find in the 600-700 range though.
