The evo turns better, but hey, who cares. Your car is simply made better and isn't ugly as hell.
Not to give you a hard time or anything........ but, "a lot" is two words.

Well it turns better but in truth a 944 has better balance but you will never see that in a stock vs stock comparison. In a stock vs stock comparison the Evo 8 will eat N/A 944s in the bends.

From just a numbers standpoint, figure the 944 Turbo could pull about .90-.93g's on the skid pad. The Lancer Evo III was rated upwards of .95g's (a great deal of magazines rating it even higher than that).

Granted some will argue that the 944 Turbo was using old tire technology...etc. So figure .93 using todays best tires. Maybe not the most accurate way of comparing, perhaps a different skidpad radius was used..wheather conditions..etc. All i know is the Evo8 handled extremely well when i drove my friends. However the 'feel' of the car is still not comparable to the 944 in my opinion. But with that said, the Evo8 is still one hell of a peformance bargin.

mitsu has at least 15 years newer technology, plus 300hp. only the modified 951s have any chance of playing with them. maybe a well-driven 968 in the twisties

I work at a Mitsu dealer and have driven an Evo quite a bit. They are an awesome car and a blast to drive. Probably the closest thing to a pure race car to be mass marketed in quite a while. For 30K it is probably one of the best performance buys ever. Chip your 951 and stiffen up the suspension and you come real close for about $7k. The only advantage then is a real back seat. By the way, an Evo gets shipped with rubber blocks in the springs, which when modified and inserted into the springs of a 951 make the handling very quick and the turn in comparable to an Evo. Put 245 Yokahamas on a 951 and see what happens.

"rubber blocks in the springs"

I think they are called "bump stops"

No, these are shipping blocks between the coils of the springs to keep them from compressing during shipping and are removed before the car goes on the lot. If any of you have driven an Evo and are impressed by the turn in you ought to drive one with these blocks still in. It is even more immediate. The ride is even more firm. I've wondered since these are installed stock from the factory if they would be allowed for autocross.

I just read on the GTO board that the Grand Prix guys are paying $50 for the shipping blocks from the GTO. Too bad the dealer prepped my car!

Evo? Great handling grocery getter car!

I like the STi better, but then again, I'm a big Subbie fan. (Have a Legacy, had an SVX). But the WRX has the same 'three box' design as the Evo does - works great for packing in the shopping bags, but it's not an emotional looking car.

For $30k, I'll take a used 993 or 996 or even a Boxster over an Evo / STi any day.

My $0.42,
-Z.

I have trouble deciding which sounds better modified. The boxer 4 of the STi has a great growl, but i was surpised that the Evo8 had a pretty nice grunt to it also. You guys should come by Deer Park Ave on Long Island on a friday or saturday night. You see dozens of Evos and STi's driving up and down looking for people to race. Its funny because they are usually driving in packs. Its sort of like West Side story, with blow off valves instead of finger snapping!

All righty I havent added anything on here in a while so here goes , I forgot I had these in my Puter

Back about 2 yrs ago when they first opened our Dealership here in JC , A really screwed up thing happened at our Sister store up north in Bristol.

A salesman was Showing a Evo to a young 16yr old Boy in the showroom, He gave him the full line of BS about the car then he decied to let him hear it run and rev up, Then he let him sit in it while it was running , And told him to rev it up and how cool it was , Well the kid was sitting there Imaging What it would be like to drive it, Putting in Gear and reving it up ANd well you can probably allready Guess what happened next , If not take a look.

Well thats not all of the story , Turns out the 16yr old boy Didnt have a Drivers License (hope I spelled that right) and as for the car on its way out it caught the back end of the other Bright Red Evo not to mention all the damage that was done to the building , He was also charged for the Light Pole ,
So all in all the grand total of the damages were as follows
2 Evos
3 Windows & Frames
1 Light pole Belonging to the City
Grand total close to, I think I heard $100,000.00

I just thought I'd throw this into the EVO thread...
