Question Porsche WaterPumps aren't really Porsche?

I've been pricing a NEW waterpump for my 968 and I can't find a NEW Porsche Brand waterpump anywhere...even Sunset. They all want to sell either rebuilds or a NEW Laso brand. I was told by one dealer that Porsche does not make water pumps but that Laso makes the pumps for Porsche. Somehow this doesn't sound quite right to me. Who makes the best (most reliable, that is) water pump available for the 968? I've not had great luck with rebuilds. Is Laso the only game in town?

I assure you Porsche doesnt make a lot of the parts they sell, they make a lot of the parts they sell more expensive (by adding the Porsche box). Like my 3M TM infringement

A new Lasso unit will be fine.

Rebuilt waterpumps from the dealer are worth using.

New LASO pumps are OEM.

Pretty much what Matt said, most car manufacturers are more assemblers than manufacters.

Right, that's why if you find a shop that is an authorized Bosch salesman you can get any part for our cars with the number, regardless of what type of a shop is.

Well, maye not one that sells Bosch kitchen appliances, but you know what I mean.

Fletch you are 100% correct, I just love the commercials. We dont make a lot of the products you buy we make a lot of the products you buy better.
