Whew, that thread title is a mouthful!
I spent the entire day trying to get the shop organized to where I can actually get things done. I have a 944S to race prep, a 924 to part out, a 356 to restore, and possible a 356 to "outlaw" (fingers crossed). I just finished paying off my truck so now I have no payments other than normal bills (like phone, insurance, gas) so I am going to start purchasing some serious toolage.
Next week I am going to order a 40lb sandblaster, powdercoating gun, and a 12-ton pipe bender from Colombia Coatings. I just bought a touch-up spray gun to go along with my full-size one. I need an air compressor to keep up with these devices, and I also want to plumb my shop for air. One of my pet peeves is having a noisy aircompressor INSIDE the shop, I can't stand that.
I am looking for suggestions on new/used upright compressors capable of keeping up with paintguns/media blasters. I also am going to be doing body repair/fab as well as building a sand rail so I need suggestions on a decent MIG welder for those purposes. If any of you have these items for sale for a good price, let me know!
This shop has come a long, long way since we moved in here, it was chock full of crap from ourselves and the previous owner. I have made three trips to the landfill with my truck FULL of crap and I already have enough stuff to make another trip. It is still a work in progress, I have a lot of junk to go through, organize, and throw away yet.
As always, I welcome people that want to come over and wrench or just bull****. If any of you need to work on your car and don't have a place to do it, and the repair can be done inside a weekend - your more than welcome here.

I have Lincoln MIG welder that runs on 220V and it is an excellent tool. My wish list would include a TIG welder. I've been looking into compressors and maintenance can be an issue. Cast iron single stage is probably best. The bigger the tank the longer you can run without the motor coming on. Noise is an issue and I'd probably isolate the compressor in an enclosure.

Hey Daniel. I'm glad to see you getting your shop together. I'll probably need lots of help when "The Queen" gets out of the machine shop (probably tuesday). Thank goodness F'burg is only 2 hours away. Looks good bud.

1. Unless you are bending pipe, you need a tubing bender, not a pipe bender. If you are bending tubing (like for a cage or a sandrail) try JD Squared (JD2). That is what we (and many many others) use.
2. For a compressor, do yourself a favor and get a oil compressor, not an oil-less. They difference in noise level is tremendous. And, if you don't know already, you need to choose a compressor on CFM at a given pressure. HP doesn't mean dick. It's got to move a given volume or air for each tool.
3. For a MIG you want to pay close attention to duty-cycle. It will tell you the percentage of time at each setting that you can run the machine. I have a Hobart 250 and while I didn't need the 250 amps, it has 100% duty cycle at any level I might use. I also got a killer deal on it.

I was tossing it around one day and it just stuck........
Not really, it is covering a hole where a woodburning stove exhaust pipe went. It was like that when we bought the place.

It is a Bren Mk1 that has been shamefully torch-cut to satisfy the ***** in the BATFE. One of these days I would like to convert it to fire semi-auto and get it going again. I have a full crate of un-used mags for it still in the British transit case.

Daniel,
I just got a compressor myself. I picked up what I felt was affordable, without worries on budget I would look at an Ingersoll Rand, they are pricey but they have been in the business for a long time.
