anyone know the official mpg figures..AFTER the car hit dealers??????????
btw. I've only calculated the mpg on my car a few times. but. I average about 33 mpg at a mostly steady 75 mph.

Just to add some more confusion; in the Car and Driver, May 1982 issue debuting the 944 it was said:
"Even in 1976, when the 924 was introduced, Porsche engineers recognized the limitations of the 2.0-liter four-cylinder and developed two alternatives. One was a 3.5- liter, 90 degree V-6 derived from the 928 engine; but experimentation with a 2.8-liter V-6 developed by Peugeot, Renault, and Volvo revealed that such an engine would weigh too much, consume too much fuel, run roughly, and be difficult to install on the assembly line. So it proved to be a second alternative that is being built at Porsche and installed on Audi's 944 production line"

So the 2.5 is "just right". They didn't have to bore it (2.7L) or stroke it (3.0L) or put a turbo charger on it (951) or add two more valves per cylinder (944S).
