Here's one... the 924S is beautiful, and slightly faster than the 944 NA... stick that in your pipe and smoke it.

Oh yes, and here's a useful one...
the spring centered clutch makes a good whiney, rattley sound when deceleration occurs...

Yes itll automatically lift the arms up when moving.
1) Your driver's side microswitch is broken/disconnected. Both doors should work the same way.

2) the sunroof is good up to (at least) 160mph, open or closed.

3) The cruise control will hold speed perfectly when it's operating correctly. If it accelerates when you set it then it can be either a cracked solder joint in the brain (under the dash) or a bad spot on the carbon trace in the cruise control motors (engine bay). Both are easily repairable (search the rennlist).

...and the 944 looks much better than any 924 .

Dal.

Agreed. It's not that I don't like the 924, but if I want an RX-7, I'll get one...

The RX-7 has three (75%) more cylinders than a comparable-looking 924. And probably drips less oil, despite its rotary-engine construction.

Here's another that comes to mind - there are actually two part numbers for the balance shaft belt - one ends in "02" and the other in "04". The "02" one is the "earlier" style one and has a different tension spec. than does the later one. I think most places only carry the later one though. 28 versus 35 on the gauge, IIRC.

Ok, I'll play.

There are two metal loops on the floor of the rear cargo area. These are to be used to retain the sunroof bag when the sunroof is in it. The bag has two straps that fasten through the retaining loops. When you make a panic stop from 100+ (no, never me) the sunroof will not fly forward and decapitate you.

The black vents inside the door jamb areas are used to divert air that enters through an open window. This air collects at the area below the glass hatch. It then enters the holes you see above the carpet. The air then flows forward through ducts to the vent in the door jambs. This vent is required so the doors can open. Finally the air is dumped back outside near the front wheel wells.

944 trivia is cool.

The RX-7 has NO cylinders

There is a covered spot for a tow hook eye in the front bumper.

For those debating between storing it in the winter & driving it in the winter

My understanding is that both the side mirrors and the windsheild washer jets are heated.

the 924S has a tow hook under the bumper, permanent, but very hidden. I've had to show tow truck drivers where to tow it from (up onto the flatbed of course)

Do only the late cars have a third speed for the wipers?

Here's another - did you ever notice that the drain tubes going to the rear of the car empty out into the little "wells" on each side of the hatch area? Admittedly the termination points are pretty close to the drain holes for the wells, but it just seems weird that they'd have chosen to dump the drain water (and who-knows-what-else) into the car, rather than taking it all the way outside. Weird.
They are supposed to empy out through little grommets on the sides of the wells. If yours are just dumping in there then someone has cut the hoses short or they have just come out of the grommets.

AZN, I was thinking the same thing got sidetracked and forgot to type it. The most likely answer is the hoses have shrunk due to age and time.

The AC works in the glovebox! REALLY.

Since Jeff keeps forgetting to post this, you can hit boost in reverse in a 1986 951...
