Default 949, on hold? It will be done when it's done right..

Due to current cash, car needs vs. car wants and other stuff. I may not have the 949 turbo project done for the 944Fest this year. I'm looking at, the 86NA needs, clutch, brake master, brakes, paint and rust repair, steering rack. Tammy's NA will be needing a tranny rebuild in short time for the auto(it's been on borrowed time for a few months now), She needs a brake master as well. I got a few house projects too. The 949 project will still be in progress, but the cash is too short for what I NEED to do already. The 954 is fun, I may just play with it for fun and enjoy it through this season, wrap up the daily cars. I have Rocks NA to part and his 951 to build, that will help pass the time as far as a car fix. I'm thinking of playing this season a little slower and hanging out more, AutoX more and hit more shows-cruises. I'll still be worrking on the project, it's just too costly for now. I don't want to rush, skimp or cut corners. It will be done when it's done right. Sorry to let you guys down.

You aren't letting anyone down! Just increasing suspense!
I don't care if its 5 years from now, this is the coolest 944 project ever!

Good philosophy. No point in rushing through the project if it isn't going to be done right. I'm sure everyone would rather wait to see the project done right than to see a rushed job that doesn't live up to your plans for the project.

not a let down andy, I just want to see the black beast at 944fest this year
and next year if you have it done right it'd be great to see the 949 setup. You can't rush into a project like this, you are doing the right thing. Just means that you will have more time to make it even nicer!

Andy,

I think I have a good brake master cylinder and an '87 power steering rack you can have if it will help you. I want to see that thing in Ohio this summer!

yeah, so far I'm happy with things, I'm close to doing the final welding on the exhaust stuff. I really have not driven the 954 as is, just the Fest last year, one autoX and about 2-3 hrs of local driving, that's it. I kinda want to try some little projects on the 954 as it is before I go wild. I still need a few hunderd bucks worth of aluminum piping for the intake and standalone or at least a very flexible map kit. Looking at the project and stuff I have to do, I'm a couple thousand away on the project and negative for what I need to do.

Winslow, thanks for the offer, I'm still to far away man. They would help, but not get me too far tho. I will be there, I wish with the setup in place, but I really doubt it. Hell, this is a bummer for me. I was told by a good friend that If I pull this project off and show it to his dad, I would more than likely have a job as a P-car mechanic at a dealer. My problem is keeping afloat untill then, choices choices.

Hey Andy - not many great things happen overnight. You have set the bar high for yourself and there is no need to rush it. You already have an awesome beast sitting outside that has only seen a few hours of use?! You crazy man you get out and enjoy it!!

Hey Andy,
I meant to mention this to you, and since you're slowing down, it's not as big of a priority but for your standalone, you should look here http://www.034efi.com It's mostly marketed for Audis, but the stage Ib or Ic (allows distributorless ignition) would work great for standalone on your car. It's a lot cheaper than many of the other systems out there, and the online community is pretty good.

Elliot (guy who you met when you and Jason brought out the strut for that 931) and myself are getting ready to install stage Ib systems on our cars, so you'll be able to see how they work. His will be on a FSP rabbit Gti, and mine will be on my 4ktq.

Quick Reply: 949, on hold? It will be done when it's done right..
