So wait, what about an S2 ????? The airbox is located in the nose outside the engine bay. Would doing these holes or adding a cone actually decrease power??? I could only imagine it changes the sound if anything assuming it doesnt ADD even minimal power.

Actually cutting the snorkle was secondary. The real threat is the vent hose from the belt cover. The front pulley will certainly see deep water way before the shorkel will. The belts make great water pumps. The vent hose is right at the upper balance shaft pulley where entrained water will be shed. Also with the belt vent pluged the shorkle will draw water so it's cut off so as to draw air from behind the headlight.
