HAHA you guys are killing me.. Joseph you are definately right that there is a vacuum created in the air box or else your car wouldn't run.

Seriously though, would it be better to leave the intake off or shorten it like someone said earlier??

why am I getting flamed here for swiss cheesing my air box? WTF. I MERELY did it for sound, came up successful by not drilling holes to the point of powerloss just to get more depth. Do I have to fly everyone of you over to prove I'm not some clown with this car? Perhaps you should take into consideration that I was ONE OF THE VERY FEW who actually spent the money to dyno a cone filter to see if there really was any power gain. sheesh, I put a tip on here and get dipped.

TheStig... I think everyone is just upset about you "drilling holes in a perfectly good part." I personally am jealous that I didn't think of it first I took the snorkel of of my car today and it definately sounds very throaty under WOT, but there really isn't any change until you hit WOT.

Does anyone have the actual bulletin Porsche put out about the snorkel??

I have the actual bulletin! BTW PIX FINALLY! You'll see what I mean by so few holes and such little to no power sacrifice. Believe me if I actually lost a 1/4 Horsepower I can make up for it by lightening my bowels 2 pounds free of dinner and lunch

I had the throttle cam on my 84. I'll probably eventually get it again.

ok there doesnt need to be a vacuum created in the airbox for the car to run, it can have positive pressure. i think people are confused with what i am saying......all along i have been saying the POINT of the snorkel, if u plug the airbox, which also was a tech update, is to create positive pressure when the car is moving at a fast enough velocity. i agree that it probably does NOTHING when you are traveling less than 60-70 miles per hour.

what difference does it make though if you plug the snorkel or not, the difference they are talking about is probably a .0003% increase in horsepower.

I can see the snorkel being a great thread though. Very interesting as to why Porsche recalled it. I still haven't gotten the block off caps.
