Default $18k NA race/show car

I was browsing the VWVortex boards' classifieds (I'm looking for a Mk I or Mk II GTI) and came across the owner of an '86 NA that thinks he can get $18k off his car. He claims it was appraised at $24k!

http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1856312

Enjoy

It's amazing what one can do with a hole saw.

Is it just me or are even the fog lights missing ?
Maybe it was to save weight!

Turn signals have a purpose. Kind of hard to fulfill it when they're blacked out.

That car has a serious identity crisis. He makes those door panels but adds even MORE speakers.

Who the hell puts 250# springs up front and keeps stock torsion bars in the rear. Oh yeah, track ready!

Contrary to others, minus the front end holes and interior, I think it doesn't look bad.

I think its fugly but I'm a bit of a purist. I think you should do whatever you want with your car but when you try to push it on someone else with astronomical pricing you should justify it.

Serge agreed, turnsignals serve a purpose...

this guy was smoking some serious crack. He says he took a track car and turned it into a show car??? why????????

It looks like it WAS a nice race car before... Are those holes supposed to do something? They are obviously not there for tasteful looks or to save weight.... why not just get fiberglass front/rear bumpers? Those would save some real weight....

I really like the paint color, the rear valence looks like it has been tacked on and its about to fall off, painting the phones looks a bit overboard, and the interior looks okay... Alot of work went into it but unfortuneately the seller is asking for a miracle on the selling price.

That price might be canadian - look at his location. So what is $18,000 Canadian in US funds? About $75.00? That seams resonable for this car.

now that I look at it, maybe those holes are vents, to some brake ducts... there looks to be some chicken wire behind them, just a guess.....
shoot if brake ducts make my car worth this much I'll sell it in a second!

as if all those holes in his rotors arent enough?? jeez, this guy must be racing down mount everest....

But you're right Carl, I looked at the close up pic of the rotor, and you can see some duct if you look closely, most likely going up behind the rotor.

ALSO, anybody notice the huge difference in the gaps in the header panel and the hood to the fender on the right side vs. the left side? Methinks that car has been through a little more than just paintwork
