i got it here but it wasnt pretty. im sure if any of you saw me, you would want to kill me. i drove the car here from 25+ miles away sitting on my toolbox, and the car was not in the red(yellow) zone, but it WAS hot! car was making some noises, and i hope nothing is wrong, but atleast i can work on it here everyday now. im letting it cool, and im going to maybe take the radiator out tonight.
i had some oil start to drip again...it looks like the lower balance shaft seal. it is dripping down from behind the "bracket" that holds the power steering pump. this time i was sure to feel that the hoses were HOT ON THE UPPER, and COLD ON THE LOWER. meaning: possible radiator blockage and/or thermostat sticking. wish me luck.

ok, i only hear some clicking from the injectors, and i think the belts/rollers sound louder because i still have the upper cover off. but for the most part, the car is still overheating. fans are not turning on, the air coming out of the vents is cool, the lower radiator hose is cool.
im wondering if the thermostat is in backwards? its new. i couldnt get it out to check if it will open. does anyone happen to have a pic of the water pump with the thermostat installed in the right direction? anyone have anyother ideas?

Generally speaking, the spring-side of the thermostat should point toward the engine, not the radiator.

so mine is backwards i think. theres the pointy part that has a frame that the spring attaches to...thats pointing at my hose i think. i think that was one of the things that cut my nuckles up.

i cant find pictures in clarks, just instructions. according to a "how the cooling system works" type of drawing in clarks, i really am thinking it is my thermostat, sinc ei am getting cool air with the vent on...looks like the heating system comes right from the thermostat. im goign to try to get it out, but will still look for explanations on the orientation of the thermostat on clarks. thanks.
