Default Stupid engine question

If I'm going to turn the 944's engine with a wrench on the crankshaft, it turns clockwise, right? Also, are there any problems with this particular engine if it does get turned backwards?

I'm going to check the timing of my balance shaft soon, so I just want to make sure...

Thanks,
BB.

It turns both ways, but for setting timing, clockwise is correct (facing the crank snout).

On a funny note, make sure it's not in gear! It happened to me once, and I almost thought the engine seized...

Hee hee! As obvious as that is, I'm sure I'll forget about it!
