Default Bent headgasket Need your Help!!!

looks like the post office bent the headgasket during shipping. My question is is it ok to install it still. its a Ulitmate Headgasket from Guru and it is bent at a 45 degree angle. Is it ok to bend it back and install it. Help is appreciated

Also this is for a friend so its not me that needs the headgasket

if it is even close to kinked, claim shipping insurance. If it's a gentle roll, you should be able to lightly and carefully tweak it back. Inspect it after to see if it is warped or streched, you "should" be ok. I hate to say go ahead,or get another, but I know getting another could cost you some time. The call is up to you man, without seeing it in it's current condition, I can't give you a good suggestion. I normally have decent judgment, I don't know what you have in your hands tho. Good Luck

thanks for the response andy. i am not sure on the condition either since i haven't seen it either. i was near a computer and i am posting for a fellow rennlister in a couple of cities away. I am not sure if guru buys shipping insurance or it comes with it no matter what. i will have to talk to danno and ask him then.

most shippers give an automatic 100 bucks insurance, additional can be bought. figure the details, maybe tryy to get a pic and if need be, tell him to box the crap out of the next one.

I would not use it. The seals on the newer Victor gaskets are bonded to the material. If they are bent, when you bend it back, they will come apart.

I have the same problem. I got a REAL cheap new head gasket off of ebay. Its just a stock wide fire but its bent across one of the piston holes. the little metal ring has a crimp and a wrinkle in it now. I am soooo pissed.
But, it came with 2 good intake valves and a cam seal all for $35. I hate the idea of using it knowing I may have to pull it all down again but it looks like it will flatten out.. humm...
