3.5 tons thank you very much, lol. Wait till I get the intake plumbing, I plan to need 9-2" bends. I'm planning that the gain will out weigh the extra pounds. I hope to get little to no noticable lag and 350-500HP we'll see how things work in the real world tho. That's how things come out on paper and working the numbers.

Thanks, that's the front clip from my first 944 that was totalled in 2000. I knew I kept it for a reason, works great for mocking stuff up! I'm planning on doing the 949 setup as a bolt on kit, no major modding to the car it's self and bolting it all into the 954. If it don't work out, I can go back stock or do conventional upgrades.

I missed something. What are you doing? Twin-turbo 944?

How usable is that HP? I am at 350HP at the wheels and my clutch (new cup with KEP PP) slips a little in 3rd.

I'm not necesarily going for that, I'd like it to last a while, that's what the numbers look like tho, I can always back the boost down. Probably not all that usable to be honest. I'm tired of waiting for boost and need more up top, that is the motivation. I'd be very happy if it works, period.

The layout is sequential, one down low and both up top.

Did any auto manufacturs ever make a production twin-turbo 4? I can only find 1 and that was a concept car - 1987 Oldsmobile Aerotech. While it claimed to make 750HP no other company seems to have ever stepped up to the plate and made a twin-4. I wish you the best of luck Andy. You might be doing the primary R&D on the future of 4 bangers.

/Perhaps OT
I always thought that it would be a good solution to boost lag to inject nitrous into the turbine(workable?). I know very little about turbos or N2O but it seems like a computer controlled N2O system that would keep the turbo spooled between shifts would ideal. That was you could run a bigger turbo for top end and only use a small amount of nitrous so you wouldn't have to fill the bottle as much(guessing). Has this been tried before? Drawbacks?

bob norwood uses nitrous to spin the turbos to reduce turbo lag on his crazy "integra" not sure if he actually uses the car or not. i just remember reading about it on his webpage and he happens to live here in dallas too. if i recall that was a twin turbo 4 cylinder too. only it was a 4L 4 cylinder built out of a solid block of aluminum running alcohol and methanol fuels as a two stage fuel system. however, for a 944, i seriously doubt you will gain anything running 2 turbos vs 1. in fact i bet you wont get it to work properly for starters (and my logic behind that is all the supras going from two to one large turbo. cheaper, easier and just as fast if not faster) and two your not going to get enough speed out of the turbine wheels with only 2 cylinders pushing each turbo, thus the boost wont be there to push any significant numbers.

but, i have not actually tried running any numbers as far as efficiency maps go on a twin turbo setup, and if you get small enough turbos it will prolly work quite well. mad props for trying though! keep those pictures rolling and hopefully you'll prove me wrong.

Bravo Andy,
Keep it up, even if it does not turn out like you expected,
at least you have the vison & the spirit to build it.
Besides, what you learn during this process is something
that money can't buy.
Keep us posted

Good Luck
