Glass sunroof..... Rare gem?
Hi,
Does anyone still make a glass sunroof? like the old targa one. If not why? I think it would be a great addition to our cars, that is a big hole in the roof...

Used ones show up on eBay for a hefty sum, usually $500-800. I was going to try and come up with a limited run of some custom made ones with the help of an ex-g/f's family glass comapny...but i never really pursued it ( i lost interest).
A company named "ToysForYourToys" supposedly had them for sale, but from all the threads i have read about them (do a search) they never delivered on them, even after a number of members went to there base of operations personally.

do a Rennlist search for "saratoga". Lots of good info. Hard to find, esp under $600.

I never had a water leak issue. It wasn't a great seal once the speeds picked up, you'd get some wind noise. But it really does open up, and brighten the cockpit. I leave mine in all the time except for track duty.

I still don't understnad why none of the aftermarket suppliers have made one of these (other than the aforementioned company who never delivered). They go for a rediculous price when they come up on eBay. If someone could make them for half that price, i'm sure they could make a pretty penny.

Not enough volume to justify making these for any of the major accessory manufacturers. I picked up a Saratoga top for my car off ebay; actually ended up paying more for it than when it was new. Oh well... Looks great, saves me a tonne of time in removing and re-installing the factory roof. Haven't had any issues of noise at any speed (I've redlined the car in 5th numerous times). I suspect due to its thinner shape than the factory, there may be some adjustment of the microswitches needed on some cars for a tight seal.
