NEED HELP: Engine Hoist Problem
I was at a buddies, still am actually, trying to put an sr20 motor in his nissan 240. The engine crane leaked all of its fluid all over the ground, and it now has no pressure. What to do?
I told him to get some hydrolic fluid for it and refill. After talking with a buddy he decided to fill it with motor oil..... he's a little crazy haha
so why would the crane do this, and what should we do to fix it?
thanks
-Carl

Yeah, the ram has a bad seal. Happened to me when I put together a friend's hoist he loaned to me. He tried to pay me what it cost to fix. I told him to consider it rent. Shoot, 6 years later I still have the hoist and have used it many many times and he's never used it. I got a good deal for my $75 to fix the ram.
The SR20 is a fabulous engine. Almost indestructable (although it can have the same apetite for bearings as a 944) and a butt load of torque (we regularly pass 2-4 cars at the start of every race - a rolling start mind you). I've built a killer NA and installed a SR20DET (nicely massaged) into my now dead red G20 (someone hit me and totalled it). Tell him to bring it to the SE-R Club of America convention in Texas the first weekend in April. Our DE will be at TWS. We're getting more and more RWD SR20 folks at our conventions.
Hey, I don't usually plug my company, but if he's looking to hook up gauges, we've got the parts he'll need. http://www.nissport.com
