That would bewithout a muffler on one side or connect them on a muffler and then split them up after that again ?

yea but you'd lose out on cylinder scavenging effect...

Rice not withstanding, in the world of custom fabrication (ever see the 57 chev with 8 turbos on it? or the camaro with the turbo at the rear of the car?), it is totally doable for the right amount of $$$$ and effort. Though looking under the car, your options look pretty limited to maybe a smaller dual outlet muffler, and route one pipe to the right side. Anyone with a rear skirt kit (Gemballa for ex) would have the extra clearance. I seriously doubt any performance gains, so it would only be for looks. Not my cup of tea perse' on a 4cyl, but its your car, do what you want with it.

i went to a muffler shop with my first 944, wanted to make it more aggressive...

the guy asked me if i wanted to add dual exhaust... I said it wouldnt fit..

oh no, i can make it fit, he assured me...

i took my car back. don't do it, it will look like crap, adds nothing, and would make it so i wouldnt wave to you

apierce, you live in wisconsin. We put dual exhaust on anything. I'm sure he could've made it fit.

Can't believe there is such an uproar about dual exhaust. If you can do it and it looks decent I say go for it.

IMO, it couldn't look much worse than that muffler on catamax's car. (beautiful car, terrible period correct muffler and tips though.)

anyone see any problem with this? stock the car has headers with 1-4 together and 2-3 together.

the reason i put 1-3 and 2-4 is some odd thought in my head that occurred while wondering how to make my 944 sound like a subaru. on the wrx the cylinders fire in order per side, so PS front, PS back, DS front, DS back. 1423 i believe, instead of 944 1342

If you reduce exhaust back pressure on your 944NA you will loose all your low end power, which is in short supply already as it is stock.
Give it a shot if you like because I think it would be fun to see. Maybe just remove the headers all together and run 4 side pipes under the passenger side fender? Take some pics whatever you do so we can add them to the enzo hall of fame.

I think dual side exhausts would toughen up the look, but you better have a V-8 to back it up.

even with a V8, i would still run a y pipe into a 3" single exhaust and make TONS of power.

y-pipes usually have great sound canceling aspects to them as well so you don't need to run resonators.

headers/y-pipe/straight pipe/no cat/Maxflow with a 4" center in/center out/4" tip.

add an LS2 w/ Fast intake, and you'll have flames coming out the back of that bad boy.

duel exhaust for a front engine P car ? never.

As it's been said you need a certain amount of backpressure and cylinder exhaust balance to keep things flowing right. I would say (theoretically of course) a smaller X pipe setup thru two mufflers would do the trick... But where the hell would you put it? And why add more to accomplish less?

Mabye ask the Government, they might be able to help

i agree completely. i was just posting the only 924/944 series car ive seen with dual tips. he has a standard solid rear so he had more room to play with.
