Default Doing clutch...shimming the throwout bearing????

Anyone know how to shim the throwout bearing properly????

The throwout and spacer next to it....which side of the pressure plate does the spacer go on?

which shims go where?

Thanks,

Jason

When I did mine a few months ago: throwout bearing, 3 plain shims, one toothed washer, fingers toward front, insert assembly into PP. From other side of PP, thick washer w/ detent facing front, then retainer clip into detent. Place on flat surface, push down on PP ring with knees, and set retainer clip into groove. These were all new parts except flywheel. Rule of Thumb is to use as many shims as you can and still get the retainer to seat well. It should have no front to rear play. Make sure the retainer is set completely in that groove by spinning it with a small screwdriver or something, if it pops out you'll be doing the whole job over again. Personally I would use a new TO bearing after all that work you've done.

I did it the same way 2Tight did. And, I second the new TO bearing...it'd suck to go in there and do it again just because of that...

That is a brand new TO Bearing.

No clutch in the vehicle with the pink wheel, but Dr. Boost (nine-44) was trying to figure out a way to stick a turbo on it...LOL

Thanks for the replies...used the 3 shims and came in afterwards to find out we did it right.

Sorry that is the most 'un-new' TO I have ever seen. How was it stored? Glad to see it all worked out.
